CIVANGERS: I LOVE YOU 3000

Assalamualaikum and Hi to everyone who's currently spending their golden time and read this new post from ME!. Today, I'd very much like to talk about the sweetest reminiscence while handling the project at Toy Library Malaysia which is located at Apartment Damai, Damansara Damai. This place takes about 20 to 25 minutes to reach from the University of Malaya. Just so you know, we have introduced ourselves as the Civangers. The reason we choose this place is that we never heard of a place called the toy libraries before which really caught our attention to it. We were thrilled when we found out about the toy libraries. We were even excited when we were told by Datin PH Wong that they needed a few volunteers to run the toy libraries and also to engage with the kids there. Thus, we have decided to choose this place as the location of our Social Engagement Project.

According to the Toy Library Chairman, Datin PH Wong says that she has established the place because she knew there are children who don't have the excess or privilege to play with toys and board games. She also knew that she needs to come out with an idea so that these children have the privilege to play games since the existed playground doesn't have the same excess that a normal playground would give. This is due to the vandalism that has been occurring since ages. She also found that these games are actually helpful for the children in their early stage of brain development. She knew that she needed to seize the opportunity so that the children from the low-income area can find their respective potential within themselves. The toy library itself encourages children in the Damai Apartment area to play games and toys.

Furthermore, we were very delightful about the fact that we were given such an opportunity to help the children and the toy library itself. The first thing that we did was we had a meeting with Puan Jameyah and the Go Green Rangers who happened to be the backbone of the toy library. They have been running the place since the beginning. In the meeting, we've talked about the importance of the toy library to the kids and also we have been told to form a few groups within the Rangers to discuss further action that can be taken in order for the toy library to survive in the future. Afterwards, we had a cleaning session with the Rangers helping us together to clean up the toy library compound. After cleaned up the messes there, we went from house to house to promote the toy library to the neighbourhood. Some of the parents weren't aware of the existence of the toy library. So, the exposure of the toy library to the parents was very vital.

The next thing we did was, we went to Tadika Lin Lin which is going to be another toy library and workshop for the kids. Before we went there for the 1st time, the place hasn't been set up yet. Thus, we were there to clean up the place before its launching day. We cleaned up the house compound and then we moved a few boxes that were donated by generous people inside a store-room. Also, the girls helped Datin with arranging the books that been donated. The boys, on the other hand, vacuum the whole place, swept the whole place, mopped the whole place and lastly, we washed the lawn, backyard and the house compound. Next, we had a session with the two innovators that shared their knowledge and experience to us. The two innovators are Mr Tan and Mr Hor. It was a fun session for us as we learned new stuff and we were so happy and grateful to be a part of this team.

Moreover, we had a few fun and exquisite activities with the kids at Idaman Apartment. First and foremost, the "Senamrobik" session with the kids was hella fun. The kids were really enjoying every bit of it. Next, we had a cooking session where we had set up a table outside the toy library. Then, we called upon the kids to join us and they were so thrilled to make fruits salad and egg sandwich. Later, we had a handcraft session with the kids where we teach them how to make origami and butterfly made out of rattan.

Then, in the evening we went to The School Mall in Jaya One where there was this event for charity, fundraising and spread awareness about the environment to the visitors. We had a booth for ourselves. The booth was for us to collect old toys, books, and recyclable items for the use of the toy library later. We find it interesting because we get to know people and we get to know the booth around us about. Also, we learned new things about the environment and we all think that it's time to go green. Stop using single-hand use plastic, use a metal straw instead of plastic, stop supporting fast fashion brands.

On the very next day, we went back to Tadika Lin Lin for sharing session. Mr Hor has taught about the importance of critical thinking and Datin also encouraged us to join more volunteering programs because she said that it helps to develop your soft skills. Mr Hor also gave us a chance to made crafts using steel wire. Some of us were really talented but some of us...hmm wasn't really... I mean..hmm never mind. In a nutshell, we feel that it is important for us to treasure every knowledge and moment that have been made during our time volunteering at the toy library. It's safe to say we had the time of our life doing this volunteering work because it was very fun and happening. And, to my fellow Civangers, I LOVE YOU 3000. I'm so happy to be a part of this family.

First and foremost, i wish all of you a great day and healthy life. The Civangers UM activities have come to an end, and i am both happy to be given a chance to work in this project and sad that it is the end of this project. However, this project has left me with tons of unforgettable memories and lessons learned. There were a lot of moments shared throughout this entire project. All are great memories for me, all the laughter, hardship, and not to forget all the jokes we made. All will be remembered by each and every one of us.  I would first like to thank the people who have made this project a success which are Datin P.H. Wong, Puan Jameyah, Puan Khadijah, Go Green Rangers, Dr Majid and the entire team members of THE CIVANGERS UM. This project would not have been a great success without the help and ef...

Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone. My name is Muhammad Nursyahmi Bin Lotfi Nor, Matrics number KIA160053 and this is ongoing reflection of mine. We decided to do the social engagement course with toy’s library association where it was a new kind of volunteerism for me. Many things that I’ve learned while doing the social engagement where it involves with the community of Apartment Idaman, Datin PH Wong, Puan Jamila, Mr Hor and Mr Tan.   The first day of social engagement, where we decided to meet Auntie J and the rangers team (active members of toy libraries) to discuss on what are the activities that help to encourage kids to come to toy libraries. We split into few groups that mix of kids from apartment Idaman and member of civangers where each group are assign different task. RAIDATUL NABILAH BINTI EMIR HAMZAH (KIA160117)

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone! In my posting today I would like to share about my final thoughts on this project. Based on the overall project, I have learned a lot of things especially in improving my personal and professional development. I learned to be more confident while communicating and dealing with such big organization. The more confident you are, the more you trust yourself. This also helps me to develop a higher self-esteem. To be confident, I need to have a positive thinking. I need to cut all the negativity around me. By talking to the parents of the kids also help me to improve my confidence level. During this project, I improved my discipline by being punctual whether for submission or other stuff. Discipline can be improved by setting a clear goal that need to achieve at the end of the project. I am able to concentrate on completing work.  I learned that all the weakness that I have can be improved for example I am not a patient pers...
