CIVANGERS: THE FIRST AVENGER



Assalamualaikum and very good afternoon to all of you who are reading this post! Today I would like to share all the activities that have been done throughout our social engagement project. My group that consist of 10 students from Civil Engineering Department did a volunteering at Toy Libraries, Apartment Idaman, Damasara Damai. Basically we were dealing with the kids at the apartment and helping them to socialize by playing at Toy Libraries. There were five main activities that we had during this project.


On 30th of March 2019, the first activity was conducted. We met Puan Jameyah and Puan Khaty for the first time. They were the person who organize and in charge of the Toy Libraries at Apartment Idaman. The first session was introduction briefing from Puan Jameyah. She introduced the Go Green Rangers of Toy Libraries which consist of kids with the age range of 7 to 16. We did ice-breaking with them and then they brought us to the Toy Libraries area for some site visit. After that we had a brainstorming activity with the Green Rangers monitored by Puan Jameyah and Puan Khaty. We were divided into three small groups to help them in giving ideas for activities related to kids and community and increasing their funding then, we presented to Puan Jameyah. For the evening session, we continued with some clearing activity at the Toy Libraries together with the kids in order to make the area more clean and neat. Before we dismissed, we did some home visit to promote the Toy Libraries to the community at the same time giving the other kids opportunity to play and make new friends.





On 31st of March 2019 we were going to Tadika Lin Lin located at SS3 Petaling Jaya. We met the inventors, Mr Hor and Mr Tan to listen to their talk related to innovation that can be done from any waste or used product. They showed us some inventions that they made which were the hydroponic plants and others that related to civil engineering. We gained some new knowledge that will be very beneficial to us. The next session, we continued in helping them to clear the area of Tadika Lin Lin since the kids start their school soon. Some of us helped to arrange the boxes contain donation items and others helped to clean the outside area of Tadika Lin Lin.





On 11th of April 2019, we came to Apartment Idaman to do some preparation works for the Carnival Day. We confirmed the activities and time with Puan Jameyah and Puan Khaty and some changes have been made. We listed all the things that were needed for the Carnival day. We set up the place for all the activities and gave flayers to the community so that they would bring their kids to join our activities.


On 13th of April 2019, we conducted a Carnival Day for the kids at Apartment Idaman. First, we did aerobics with the kids in front of the Toy Libraries. Next, we had cooking session which we divided into two groups. We made egg sandwich and fruits salad. The kids enjoyed the experience and we felt glad to see their happy face. We took a 10 minutes break before proceed to the next activity. We continued with some creative activities which were origami and rotten craft. We taught them to do a butterfly using rotten. Although it was a bit difficult but, we managed to help them. This craft activity may help them in increasing their funding. At the evening, we helped to collect donate toys at Jaya One. A lot of toys that we managed to get and thank you so much to people who gave the donation.






On 14th of April 2019 was our last activity for our social engagement project. We went to Tadika Lin Lin to meet the inventors again. We have been taught to innovate a product by using the steel wire. All the things that we learned here were very useful in order to become more creative and innovative. Our lecturer, Dr Majid came for an observation purpose on our progression work. I am truly happy with all the activities conducted throughout this project. I am very thankful to have great group members who did their best in order to complete this whole project.

I AM GROOT!!

Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone. My name is Muhammad Nursyahmi Bin Lotfi Nor, Matrics number KIA160053 and this is ongoing reflection of mine. We decided to do the social engagement course with toy’s library association where it was a new kind of volunteerism for me. Many things that I’ve learned while doing the social engagement where it involves with the community of Apartment Idaman, Datin PH Wong, Puan Jamila, Mr Hor and Mr Tan.   The first day of social engagement, where we decided to meet Auntie J and the rangers team (active members of toy libraries) to discuss on what are the activities that help to encourage kids to come to toy libraries. Assalamualaikum and hi everyone! In my posting today I would like to share about my final thoughts on this project. Based on the overall project, I have learned a lot of things especially in improving my personal and professional development. I learned to be more confident while communicating and dealing with such big organization. The more confident you are, the more you trust yourself. This also helps me to develop a higher self-esteem. To be confident, I need to have a positive thinking. I need to cut all the negativity around me. By talking to the parents of the kids also help me to improve my confidence level. During this project, I improved my discipline by being punctual whether for submission or other stuff.
