I AM IRON MAN

Assalamualaikum and Hey guys, welcome to the strongest civangers on going reflection post so you’ve picked the right post on this one :) We started the day bright and early without hitting the snooze button as that what heroes do. We dove deep into the detail of our volunteering by starting with a briefing as we discuss the over arching goal of our social engagement activities. We then lead into the brainstorming session with the go green rangers which is an awesome group of children that selflessly volunteer to help the toy library. We then took a tour to the toy library and did a bit of spring cleaning around the vicinity of the toy library. We also did a home visit with the go green rangers to help provide awareness to the community there and get more active volunteer for the toy library.

Onward to the next day, this time the location of our mission has changed, the location this time is at Tadika Lin Lin. We begin the day with a talk about the what’s and ifs of possibility from the inventor, Mr Hor. After the talk had been wrapped up, we started cleaning and prepping the house as the house is aimed to be used as a learning facility for small children to teach them the power of the brain and maybe be like tony, so fingers crossed. From re-arranging book and stationery to vacuuming the classroom and washing the front porch. Each civangers was given a task to do and each of us completed their task beautifully but to do so we had to help each other like a team. After the place are shiny new and squeaky clean, the day was a wrapped. Get it?? wrapped? Like a shawarma.

During a third session, as the sun was high above our head, we assemble at the toy library. We were there to confirm the activities that was to be conducted during carnival day and the activities that was selected was aerobic session, cooking session, gotong royong session and arts and craft session. We also list out and manage the item that will be needed to use during the carnival day to ensure nothing unLOKI happened.

At last the big day is here, dread it, run from it, carnival day still arrived at the toy library. We first set up our equipment and item that will be used for the whole carnival day. Then, we had a fun and memorable aerobic session with the kid at Idaman. After the aerobic session concluded, we had a cooking session where we set up tables near the vicinity of the toy library and invite the kids who graciously partake the aerobic session to join in to learn how to make a fruit salad and egg sandwich by our very own Masterchef Malaysia, which were the girls of civangers, all the food made got to be eaten which made the kids really excited and we were delighted to see them in a joyful state. Later, we had an arts and crafts session where we teach them how to make origami animal and butterfly with rattan. The carnival day ended on the high note.

Then in the evening, we went to the school mall in Jaya One. The place was having an expo about the environment, the expo hosts many great booths from how to be more environmentally friendly by changing small aspect of our life and booth that spread awareness about how we impact our mother earth. We then were assigned a booth and our booth was a booth for people to donate their prelove item such as toy, children books, stationary and even snacks which is a cool way to help the less fortunate. There were many kind-hearted people that day that donate to support an endearing cause and I believe we should always strive to help others, a perfect balance like all things should be.

On to the next day, we were back at Tadika Lin Lin for a last sharing session. Mr Hor started with given us a talk on how to think when we want to overcome adversity and applying our engineering knowledge to improve our quality of life. Mr Hor also gave us some steel wire and ask us to make any craft that we wanted, some of us turn into Picasso but some were not as lucky but I believe the underlining message that Mr Hor wanted us to picked up what that anything can be seen as easy and no appreciation is given for those who do small works but when trying, we starts to see that it is harder than it seem and we found a new found appreciate and respect to those who can create things from nothing. As the curtain is drawn to a close, this have been a lovely and worthwhile journey for me as I learn things that would not have reach the limelight if not for the people and experience of this program. I guess some things do bring out the best of us when going something bigger than ourselves. I guess in the end, Iron Man did the right thing. A big thanks to you guys for staying till the end, I really appreciate you reading this post so here’s a cookie.
