ZULKIFLI BIN MOHAMED ZAINUDDIN (KIA160101)

Assalammualaikum and hey guys. The strongest civangers is back and I hope you all are doing well. Like all good things come to an end. The chapter for us to volunteer at Toy Library at Apartment Idaman has comes to a close and just like a good book can linger in our thoughts and crave its mark on our hearts, this program did just that and the memories I got from it are shinier than gold. It was a wonderful journey that allow me to form new bond with wonderful people at the toy library, it also gives birth to new experience and provide me an opportunity to give back to community.

The earth mightiest heroes.... The CIVANGERS

A special thanks to the people who help made this project a success which were Datin P.H. Wong, Puan Khadiah, Puan Jameyah and the go green rangers. The huge appreciation to Dr Majid which act as our advisor throughout the program. A big thanks to each member of the Civangers if were not for their dedication the whole social engagement could have fallen short. The project was a success through the effort and assistance all this people.

The volunteer of Idaman's Toy Library

Throughout my volunteering journey, I learn many things about myself but the most important thing I found was new respect for those who sacrifice hours of their leisure time to help a greater cause and I also learn that I too have a responsibility to those who are less fortunate than I am, just because everything is right as rain for me, does not mean it is the same for everyone else. Being at the toy library was an eye opener for sure, seeing the children who was half my age and is already volunteering to operate the toy library so that other children in that area can enjoy the many treats that the toy library has to offer such as board games, children books, puzzle, toys, artwork supplies, so basically  you name it the toy library probably has it. I felt ashamed as I was only doing this for myself. I learn that we should always find the time to give back to the community, even if it seems like a small act to you but to that one person it could be the different between day and night. To live for oneself is a cruel act against humanity but through others we may prosper through adversity. The Kids at Apartment Idaman are really the real heroes.

Choosing the profession of a civil engineer, it is a field of engineering that has a direct impact to the quality of lives to the end user. If an area is designed poorly the results will be catastrophic as lives could be lost in the process. Ensure everyone have a good quality of life is an attribute that all civil engineer if not everyone should strive for. It is a hard pill to swallow since to us, we are merely constructing a building or a street but to those who come and live there, it is their home, it is a place where their kids will grow, the street will the road that brings them home. It is easy to forget since as engineers, we focus on the numbers and we tend to forget about the people that will live there. Seeing the layout of the Idaman apartment, I saw some fault that reduces the quality of lives for those who lives there like a very small ill equipped park and some faults that could possibly cause an accident such as the apartment block are compact and very close together and the ground floor serve as a parking lot which reduce the visibility for both the driver and people who are crossing between blocks, this condition can cause an accident if a kid were to sprung out when a car is passing by. All this could be mitigated if the people responsible took the necessary steps. This show me that we as engineers are shouldering a large role in society.

To conclude this post, I am incredibly glad and humble for partaking in this volunteering journey at the toy library, if possible, I would have done it again. I thanked you all for staying this long to read my reflection and I appreciate the time you gave me. I guess I'll catch you on the flip side.

Assalamualaikum and greeting everyone, my name is Muhammad Nursyahmi Bin Lotfi Nor, Matrics number KIA160053 and this is my Final Reflection. Many things I have learned while doing the social engagement with my team. One of it is cooperation with the community is important. In the first day at Apartment Idaman, we have discussion with the kids and representative of toy library on what is the suitable activities and time to do it. Other than that, teamwork between team members is a key to make this program a success. This can be seen where on the second day in Apartment Idaman, we have 3 activities which is the ‘senamrobik’, cooking session, art and craft session where each activity is in charge by different member of the group. Then, planning the workflow help to do it smoothly. In preparation of doing the activity on second day at Apartment Idaman, we plan the flow of programs and detail of it such as what is the material that we need to prepare and how to do it. ABDULLAH BIN ZAHARI (KIA160002)

Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone. My name is Abdullah Zahari and this is my final reflection. Social engagement according to wikipedia is a social involvement or social participation that refers to one's degree of participation in a community or social. In the nutshell, it is a subject where we have to engage with the community and provide service for them. Throughout this program, a person can develop their skill through the interaction and communication with other people other than their peers. Based on my observation i found two aspects that create a tremendous effect to my personal experience. (i) Personal and Professional Development Personally, I have gained something new from the activities that we were conducted throughout the program.   Conducting a program is somehow something new to me moreover involving interaction with other organization.
